Before Carey began illustrating and writing full-time, she spent much of her Connecticut childhood in a world of her own creative imagination, her college years studying English and children's literature at Northeastern University and Simmons College in Boston, and fifteen years raising three children and many classrooms of elementary students in southern Maine.
She nows spends her time creating children’s picture books, freelance illustrating, and performing music with her husband, Will. Carey lives in Maine and Texas with a few stops in between.
